Don’t be fooled by the short length of PPIR’s 1.3-mile, 9-turns, road course. Our Time Attack track configuration may appear simple from an aerial track map view, but it is deceptively technical. For a truly fast lap, our track demands respect matched with nerves of steel.
PPIR’s road course races drivers through NASCAR turns 1 and 2 of the traditional oval, with an eleven-degree embankment. Drivers will have to negotiate their values of taking the fast line, hitting the apex, and their vehicle suspension.
Tracking out on the 85’ wide road course from this oval, is easily the fastest section of this racetrack. Our regular drivers find themselves pushing farther and farther outside their comfort zones to get to unimaginable top speeds. Time Attack drivers then navigate through our infield turns and corners, where a high horsepower race car cannot be your only asset. If you’re braking late, you’re not braking late enough. If you think you’re hitting your apex, think again.
The technicality of our road course tests every aspect of a driver and their race car. Do you think you have what it takes? Get your race car ready and prepare your mental grit. Come compete at Pikes Peak International Raceway’s Gold Rush coming in 2023.
